Who we are

This website is run by MLK Storage Ltd, trading as MLK ("we", "our", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15189361. Our registered office is Lancaster Approach, Killingholme Airfield, Immingham, DN40 3JY. We are the data controller for the personal information you give us through this website, by email or by phone.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your information, call us on 07765 331510 or email [email address to confirm].

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you send an enquiry through our website, email or call us, we may collect:

  • your name, company name, email address and phone number
  • how you would like us to contact you
  • details of your enquiry, such as the goods or cargo involved, quantities, locations, vehicles and dates
  • any photos you upload with a cargo handling enquiry. Please avoid including people or personal details in these photos

Information collected automatically

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your browser and device type, and the website that referred you. See our cookie policy for details.

Our enquiry form may be protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which looks at information about your device and how you use the page to check that the form is being filled in by a person, not a bot. Our hosting provider also keeps short-term technical logs to protect the website from attacks.

How we use your information

  • to reply to your enquiry and provide a quote
  • to arrange and carry out storage, handling and related work you ask us about
  • to keep business records for tax and accounting purposes
  • to protect the website from spam and abuse
  • to understand how the website is used and improve it (only with your consent)

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for marketing without your permission.

Our legal basis

Under UK data protection law we rely on:

  • Contract: when we need your details to quote for, or carry out, work you have asked us about.
  • Legitimate interests: to reply to enquiries, run our business and keep the website secure.
  • Consent: for analytics cookies, which you can change at any time.
  • Legal obligation: to keep the business records the law requires.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with companies that help us run our business and this website:

  • Cloudflare: hosts the website.
  • Resend: delivers enquiry form messages, and any photos attached, to our inbox.
  • Our email provider: stores the emails you send us.
  • Google: Google Analytics (only if you consent) and reCAPTCHA spam protection.
  • Brink: our website agency, which looks after this website for us.
  • Professional advisers: such as our accountant, where needed.

We'll also share information if the law requires it. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to work, including any photos sent with them: up to 2 years.
  • Customer records: as long as we need them for tax and accounting purposes, usually 6 years.
  • Analytics data: no longer than 14 months, the maximum Google Analytics allows.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it
  • ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details at the top of this policy.

Keeping it safe

We take sensible technical and practical steps to protect your information. No website or email system is completely secure, but we work with reputable providers and limit who can see your details.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
